Conjuring Creativity: Art & the Esoteric #3 ‘Inhabiting Esoteric Ecologies’
15-16/3/2025
MKII, 71 – 75 Powerscroft rd., Lower Clapton, London, E5 0PT
Conjuring Creativity is a two day interdisciplinary conference bringing together practitioners,
scholars and artists who all have a shared interest in the fields of occultism and esoteric
methodologies.
This upcoming edition intentionally focuses on the entangled relationships between magick and the
more-than-human, exploring how esoteric, occult and mystical strategies are being utilised within
and alongside contemporary art to recognise, repair and re-member our innate relationships, to our
earthly ecologies, spirits, pan-species kin and the unseen companions who inform and inhabit our
terrestriality.
Alongside established speakers, the gathering brings emerging artist voices to the fore, whilst
allowing space for participatory experiential workshops, evening performances and a curated reel of
artists’ short film. Taking place beyond the academy, we intend to foster an atmosphere of open
sharing, mutuality and cross pollination as a catalyst towards nurturing community and future world
building.
Anyone with an interest in contemporary art, esotericism and other knowledges in relation to
ecology and the more than human is encouraged to attend.

Telluric Atavisms (Orryelle at Conjuring Creativity, Sat 15th March):
This performative piece involves music, movement and body-morphing as a way of bridging the human connection with (and as) other life-forms.

Clay, the primal elements of earth and water, will be employed to shape and reshape the face and body of the artist. Through this various animal atavisms will be explored and expressed. Part of the beauty and strangeness of this kind of ritualistic play is that the artist does not fully know what forms will emerge (not using a mirror and sight, sound and even breath being sometimes impaired temporarily during the process). Rather one must continue to move with the clay, reshaping it continuously into new forms as earlier ones begin to fall apart.
Thus a continuum of metamorphic ‘scrying’ in earth and water allows spirit to have its way with the invoking artist-magician in the moment.

On Thurs 13th March Berlin’s Persian neofolk duo Paganland join Belgium’s own RinOrrFreus for their first Brussels show in over a year.

RinOrrFreus is a mythic beast formed of disparate heads, converging in a single elemental body precipitating wyrd music.
Orryelle en-chants with voice & violin through loops and FX
Fre flays bass in fretted fray with bliss
Rinus’s elecstatic frequencies undulate betwixt extremities.
For the first time in combination with the live soundscapes created by this three-headed Beast, Orryelle will also include his new exploration of metamorphic self-sculpting with clay, bones and horns.
Paganland is a Native Neo-folk Acoustic Ritual band from Iran formed in 2013 in Germany by Magus and Charuk .
They present their hypnotic music with original Persian primitive & rustic oriental instruments and movements which were used in mystic folklore and tribal dances and entice their audience thereby into a fascinating world full of intensity and magick.
The beautiful echoing sounds of their archaic ceremony will send you into a trance, one you may not wake up from
Presenting a combination of breath sounds and dead phonetics, shamanic rites, Persian primitive narration & oriental melodies from the oldest storage vessels of ancient Iranian art.
